If you are a food handler, yes! California law requires you to get your card within 30 days of starting work.

What is a certification vs certificate program?

A certificate program is a training program combined with an assessment. Successful participants in these programs receive a certificate, not a certification. A certification program is an exam that yields a certification to individuals who pass. Certification programs do not include a formal training component, although training may be used to prepare. For example, anyone who passes the California food handler course and test will get a California food handlers certificate. Anyone who passes the Food Protection Manager Certification Exam will get a food manager certification valid in California.

How do I reprint my food handlers card?

If you lost your current food handler card, you can reprint it by logging into your account. Find the Certificates window on your dashboard and locate your card. Click View Certificate and then Print.

What is a food handlers card?

A food handler card is a certificate, card, or permit that shows you have completed a food safety course that is approved by your state and county, and that you understand the basics of food safety.
