The purpose of the Food Handlers Card Training program is to prepare food handlers to enter the workforce by providing the required food safety information as specified by regulations of the workers’ state or local government.

Do I need a food handler card?

If you are a food handler in the County of San Diego, you are required to complete a food safety course that is approved for use in San Diego County. Completing an approved food safety course will award you with a County of San Diego Food Handler Education Certificate. A food handler is someone who handles, prepares, serves, sells, or gives away food for human consumption.

Is the San Diego County Food Handlers Card training and test approved for my area?

This training and test is approved for use throughout San Diego County.

When do I need to get my San Diego Food Handlers Card?

How do I renew my San Diego Food Handlers Card?
