World Health Day 2015: Food Safety

world health dayToday is World Health Day! Every year on April 7, the World Health Organization (WHO) chooses an important global health concern to focus on. This year’s theme is food safety.

This is a huge topic. Every year foodborne and waterborne illnesses kill an estimated 2 million people around the world. This year’s theme, “Food Safety: From Farm to Plate, Make Food Safe,” emphasizes that food safety plays an essential role in sustaining life and maintaining the health of people around the world. And as our food supply continues to globalize, the issue of food safety becomes increasingly pertinent as it becomes easier for local food safety issues to become international emergencies.

Food production and distribution is an ever-changing process, and it’s important to keep food safe as changes are made to the system. There are several people and agencies that work together to keep your food safe along the production line. As a food safety training company, StateFoodSafety.com takes part in that process. We work with regulatory agencies and foodservice industries to train and empower foodservice professionals to become active contributors to food safety. Watch the video below to learn more about how the different agencies work together all over the world.

Do your part to keep food safe.
