TABC Certification refers to the alcohol service training and certification program approved by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC). The course educates individuals who work in the Texas alcohol industry, such as bartenders, servers, managers and other personnel, about responsible alcohol service and sales.
Although the state of Texas does not require TABC certification, many employers require alcohol-industry employees to complete this training to help ensure a safe serving environment. This includes bartenders, servers, cashiers, managers, security personnel and even owners of businesses that sell alcohol. Be sure to check with your employer to determine specific training requirements for your position.

Your TABC Certification will be valid for two years from the date of completion. After two years, you will need to renew your certification by retaking the TABC training course and passing the final exam.

If you serve both alcohol and food, you are required to have a Texas Food Handlers Card in addition to TABC certification.
