Do I need a California food handlers card?
If you are a food handler in California, you are required to complete a food safety course that is approved for use in California. Completing an approved food safety course will award you with a California Food Handlers Card. A food handler is someone who handles, prepares, serves, sells, or gives away food for human consumption.
Is this food handler training and test approved for my area?
This training and test is approved for use throughout California, including all counties (Orange, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin, etc.) and cities (Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, San Jose, Fresno, etc.). However, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, San Diego County, and Siskiyou County have additional requirements for their areas.
When do I need to get my California Food Handlers Card?
Within 30 days of starting work.
What do I get when I finish this course?
State of California Food Handlers Card
How long is my California Food Handlers Card valid for?
Your California Food Handlers Card will be valid for 3 years.
How do I renew my California Food Handlers Card?
If your food handler card has expired, you will need to purchase and retake the California Food Handlers Card training. If you need to reprint your current food handler card, login and go to the Certificates section. From there, you can click View, select print, and obtain card.
